Former deputy of the ruling AK Party İdris Şahin has been detained as part of an investigation into the Gulen Movement, which the government accuses of masterminding the July 15 coup attempt.

Police detained Şahin in Ankara, on Wednesday.

Şahin also served as the deputy chairman of the Parliament’s constitution commission during his tenure of between 2011 and 2015.

Turkey has already detained some 43,000 people and arrested 21,000 amid coup bid crackdown.
