Emel Bayraktar, a 29-year-old teaching assistant at Turkey’s Bingöl University, has been sent to prison over alleged links to Turkey’s Gulen group, accused by the government of masterminding a coup attempt.

The group denies any involvement.

According to a local news portal, Bayraktar is 1-month pregnant. She is accused of  using ByLock, once widely available online and considered by the government to be a tool of secret communication among supporters of the movement since a failed coup attempt in 2016.

Bayraktar is reportedly being held in Bingöl M Type prison.
