A 12-year-old kid was detained, handcuffed behind back during protests held against the Turkish government’s recent removal of the mayors of Diyarbakır, Mardin and Van over alleged terrorist links.
According to the İleri Haber news portal, the kid, identitfied with initials B.A., was reportedly taken to police station for interrogation and then released in seveal hours.
The Article 18 of Child Protection Law stipulates that children can not be shackled, handcuffed or subjected to a similar treatment while being transferred as part of an investigation.
