Şervan Can Güder, a 20-year-old Kurdish youngster, died of heart attack on Tuesday in Van F Type State prison, Turkish authorities said.

According to Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu, a lawmaker from the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Güder was denied a funeral vehicle and his body was taken over from the prison by his relatives with a mini van.

The man’s family members claimed that he had no health problem therefore his sudden death was suspicious.

Since a failed coup attempt in 2016, there have been many cases of people who died in jail, some suspiciously, because they were denied crucial treatment or subjected to maltreatment or acts of torture. So far, at least 106 people died in Turkish prisons since July 2016, the Bold news portal reported.
