A total of 29 diplomats, public servants working at the Ministry of European Union Affairs and Ministry of Environment and Urbanization were detained on Aug 25 as part of an investigation into the Gülen Movement, which the government accuses of to be behind the July 15 coup attempt.

According to Haber Türk daily, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued detention warrants for 29 diplomats and pubic officials who are suspected to have links with the Gülen movement.

Upon the warrant, a major operation was conducted by police teams from the Ankara Directorate of Anti-smuggling and Organized Crime later the same day, with almost 500 police officers raiding numerous addresses, including the aforementioned ministries.
