The number of prisoners who have been convicted over links to the Gulen movement totals 38,470, according to Justice Minister Abdulhamit Gül.

Speaking to an Antalya gathering on Saturday, Gül said the total number of people in prison who were convicted of Gulen ties has reached 38,470 as of Feb 10.

The corresponding figure for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) convicts is 10,079 while 1,354 people were found guilty over ties to the Daesh, he added.

Turkish government blames the Gulen movement for the 2016’s failed coup while the latter denies involvement.

More than 60,000 people have been jailed pending trial over Gulen ties so far.
