Four district governors have been arrested in Tokat as part of an investigation targeting the Gülen movement, which President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government accuse of being behind a failed coup attempt on July 15, Turkiye Gazetesi reported on Thursday.

According to the report, six district governors who have detained by Turkish police earlier last week, testified to a Tokat prosecutor on Wednesday. Four of them were officially arrested and sent to prison, while 2 others have been freed on probation.
