Five out of 14 current or former students of Bilecik Seyh Edebali University were put in pre-trial detention an investigation into Gulen movement, which the government accuses of masterminding the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, on Tuesday.
Police carried out operations to detain 14 suspects in Bilecik, Manisa, Kocaeli, Hakkari, Bursa and Istanbul on May 18 and 19. The detainees, either students or alumni, are accused of having links to the movement.
A Bilecik court arrested 5 of them while releasing the remaining 9 on judicial control.
The government has already detained more than 120,000 people and jailed some 50,000 over alleged or real links to the movement.
