A 54-year-old cleaning worker who was suspended over security surveillance at a government-seized municipality, has died of a heart attack.

Ali Aras was suspended from his job at Mersin’s Akdeniz Municipality which was earlier seized by the mayor’s alleged ties to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) who had been elected on the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) tickets.

Aras suffered a heart attack and was taken to a hospital after he was told that he has been suspended over security surveillance, on April 11.

The suspended man died on Monday morning, media reported.
