At least 70 people in 34 different Turkish provinces have been taken into custody over alleged links to the Gülen group, which the Turkish government accuses of masterminding a coup attempt.

According to the Cumhuriyet daily, among the detainees was Z.K.T., the military entrance processing commander of Isparta’s Yalvaç district. Z.K.T. and other detainees were reportedly taken to Konya for further interrogation.

Turkish government has so far detained 120,000 people and arrested some 50,000 over the faintest –true or alleged– links to the Gülen group.

The group denies any involvement in the coup attempt.

Critics often blast the government for a massive purge it is carrying out that violates the principle of individual criminal responsibility.
