Selim Buğrahan, a 87-year old Kurdish man who has been senenced to 5 years in prison on terror charges, died in a prison in Turkey’s Maraş province, according to pro-Kurdish HDP Deputy Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu.
A Twitter account that claims to be a close relative of Mr. Buğrahan, claimed last week that the victim had several health issues and has been held at a prison in the Türkoğlu Prison in Kahramanmaraş province for over a month. The man has recently been given a prison sentence of 5 years on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
Gergerlioğlu on Monday confirmed Bugrahan’s death via Twitter, saying that he was not released despite a forensic report.
