Nine Kurdish prisoners at a prison in Elazığ province have received disciplinary action for “singing songs” in Kurdish language, according to the Gazete Duvar news portal.

According to the report, the nine women, including former pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Leyla Güven, are banned from contact visitation with their family members for a month.

The nine woman are held in prison over terror charges.

Leyla Güven was arrested on January 31, 2018. She was later sentenced to 22 years and 3 months in prison for establishing and leading a terrorist organization, disseminating the propaganda of a terrorist organization and provoking the public to take part in illegal demonstrations.
