At least 96 people including two İzmir-based labor union leaders affiliated with the Confederation of Public Employees Trade Unions (KESK), Çağdaş Yazıcı and Recep Temel, have been detained by Turkish police on terror charges, the Izgazete news portal reported.

According to the report, Yazıcı and Temel weredetained during a police raid on their homes in İzmir province. Yazıcı was earlier dismissed from his job at İzmir Municipality witha gov’t decree issued after a coup attempt on July 15, 2016.

All the detainees are accused of having membership in a terrorist organization.
