Justice and Development Party(AK Party) deputy chairman Yasin Aktay announced on Thursday that the party administration expelled four mayors from AK Party over their alleged links with Gülen Movement inspired by the views of US-based Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen.

Aktay told reporters that AK Party cancelled the membership of Enve Başaran, Aşkale district mayor in Erzurum province, Halil İbrahim Oral, Ilgın district mayor in Konya, Ali Erdoğmuş, Nar district mayor of Nevşehir province and Çamoluk district mayor of Giresun.

On August 24, Akarçeşme was detained in Çamoluk as part of an investigation in Black Sea region against Gülen Movement.
