Semra Turan, reporter for pro-Kurdish Dicle News Agency (DİHA) until it was shut down with a post-coup government decree on Oct. 29, 2016, was detained over terrorism charges in Bingöl province.

Turan claimed, according to Turkish media, police put pictures of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants into her bag during search.

Turan was taken into custody on late Friday.

The Contemporary Journalists Association (ÇGD) said Turkey currently keeps 142 journalists under arrest. Meanwhile, several other journalists are also under detention.
