Eleven people were taken into custody while they were allegedly on their way to escape Turkey’s post-coup crackdown to a Greek island on Saturday.

The suspects were detained on the shores of Dalaman in Mugla province over their alleged links to the Gulen movement, which the government accuses of masterminding the Jul 15, 2016.

Detainees included an architect, a teacher, an academic, two police officers and their family members including two children.

Turkish media reported that the detainees had been already dismissed from their jobs over similar charges and we on their way to escape further persecution.

Turkey has already detained some 115,000 people over alleged or real ties to the movement while many of those in prison had been already sacked from their jobs.
