Arrest warrant was issued for Burak Akbay, the license holder of the leading opposition daily, Sozcu.
Akbay is accused of membership to Gulen movement or what the government calls a terrorist organization.
The Turkish government has declared the Gülen movement as a terrorist organization although there is no court ruling to this effect. The government accuses the movement of masterminding the failed coup attempt on July 15, although the movement strongly denies any involvement in the failed putsch.
On Friday, the daily’s online editor Mediha Olgun and Izmir reporter Gökmen Ulu were arrested over their alleged links to the Gülen movement. Meanwhile, the newspaper’s finance manager Yonca Yücekaleli was released after brief detention.
