Ankara Public Prosecutor issued detention warrants for 648 judges and prosecutors, as part of an investigation into coup attempt in Turkey, on Thursday.

The judicial personnel in question were earlier suspended by the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK).

Turkey survived a bloody coup attempt on July 15 and state institutions has been undergoing an unabated purge as part of investigations into the attempt since then.

The total number of judges and prosecutors suspended from the judicial bodies since the coup attempt has reached to 3,489.
