At least eight Turkish nationals, including military personnel, have reportedly sought asylum in Greece, the Greek Times reported on Monday.

According to to report, the group left Turkey via illegal means en route to France, however, caught by the Greek police. They are reportedly wanted by the Turkish government over alleged links to the Gulen group, accused of masterminding a coup attempt in 2016. The group denies any involvement

The refugees were reportedly caught by the police in a small sailing boat near the port of Tsoutsoura, south of Heraklion.
