President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has filed a criminal complaint in Turkey against the German comedian Jan Boehmermann over one of his TV shows allegedly insulting the head of state.

Earlier, Erdogan opened a file against the comedian in Germany but no charges were brought out of it. Boehmermann is accused of insulting the president for reading a poem on TV that included verses mentioning ‘him having sex with goats and sheep and watching child pornography’ as well his crackdown against Kurdish minority in Turkey, in March last year.

With a 15-page complaint lodged in Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office, Boehmermann faces up to 4 years in jail over insult charges.
