Diyarbakir governor has banned the 9th Which Human Rights? Film Festival, scheduled to be held on Dec 15-17, according to media.

Organized by Documentarist, the film festival was banned the day it supposed to kick off on Dec 15. The festival was planned to air seven different movies and documentaries. The media said the governor did not mention any reason for the ban.

Governors in several provinces have recently banned events and demonstrations, among them including a democracy rally in Izmir, an LGBT themed meeting in Istanbul and an art festival in Tunceli, due to post-coup emergency rule.

Turkey survived a military coup on July 15, 2016, after which the government declared a State of Emergency. Several opposition were banned during the emergency rule and thousands of people were arrested.
