Ahmet Altan, a Turkish author who has been held in pre-trial detention in İstanbul’s Silivri prison, has shared the first photo since the beginning of his prison sentence in September 23, 2017.
The two photos, which were posted on Saturday by Altan’s daughter Sanem Altan, shows him standing near Sanem with a smile on his face.
“Life passes, everybody leaves, eveything comes to an end. Only stories remain for good. And this is a story of Silivri [prison],” Sanem said in his tweet.
In February 2018, Ahmet Altan along with five others including his brother Mehmet Altan were handed down aggravated life sentences on charges of attempting to destroy the constitutional order in a development that attracted widespread criticism from human rights and press freedom organizations all around the world.
‘Hayat geçer, herkes geçer, her şey geçer.
