The anti-government Furkan foundation has been temporarily closed as part of a decision by a prosecutor.

“Adana-based Furkan foundation, all its branches and representatives were banned in accordance with the approval of the Interior Ministry, dated Jan 31, 2018,” a written statement by the Adana Public Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.

Furkan’s president Alparslan Kuytul were detained along with 20 members on Jan 30.

Kuytul and other detainees are reportedly accused of “disturbing public order” and “establishing a criminal organization.”
