In yet another attempt to demonize sympathizers of the Gülen movement, pro-government journalist Ömer Turan said Gülenists make use of jinns and magicians in order to spread cancer in the country.
“FETÖ is capable of seeping into the bodies of targeted people and instilling cancer with the help of a method called magnetic wave, or magic. …Through jinns and magicians, pro-FETÖs attempted to transmit several diseases, in particular cancer, and they set up special units for this purpose. … Like the CIA and MOSSAD, FETÖ actively used and continue to use jinns and magicians in order to sideline its opponents,” Turan said in a series of tweets on Wednesday.
FETÖ [Fethullahist Terrorist Organization] is a term coined by the government in order to designate members of the movement within the bureaucracy as a terrorist group, despite the lack of any court verdict to that effect.
The government accuses the movement of masterminding a July 15 coup attempt, with the latter denying any involvement.
Remarks similar to those of Turan became a common occurrence after the government pinned the blame for the July 15 failed coup on the movement. Ankara Mayor Melih Gokçek from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) earlier said that the movement along with the US had been planning to trigger an artificial earthquake in Istanbul.
Meanwhile, pro-government journalists previously claimed that the green color of the robe that Fethullah Gülen put on during a speech to his followers was an order to initiate a military coup.
During a TV program aired on the pro-government Haber-Turk station this week, Sabah daily columnists Ferhat Ünlü and Metehan Demir and TV anchor Didem Arslan Yılmaz discussed whether Gülen’s drinking black tea sends a secret signal to followers of the movement.
