Sakarya police detained two more relatives of Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen on charges of alleged membership to a terrorist organization, on Saturday.

Turkish government accuses the cleric of masterminding the July 15 coup attempt and it has been continuing a witch-hunt on people affiliated with Gülen, for some time.

Gülen denies any role in the bloody putsch attempt.

His two female relatives, known by initials S.K. and N.K. were detained on the accusation of being member to FETÖ an abbreviation for what the government calls Fethullahist Terrorist Organization, in the Sakarya’s Hendek district.

Turkey has detained 43,000 people and arrested 24,000 over their alleged ties to Gülen so far. More than 100,000 people have been either sacked or removed from state positions.

The preacher has also had his many relatives put behind bars since the July 15.
