Fethullah Gulen’s brother Salih Gulen died at an apartment in Istanbul where he was hiding from the Turkish government’s post-coup witch-hunt.

Media reported Wednesday that Salih Gulen was hiding at this apartment due to an arrest warrant, issued on charges of membership to the Gulen movement. If caught, he would have faced up to 10 years in prison.

Turkish government accuses the cleric of masterminding the July 15, 2016 coup attempt and it has been continuing a witch-hunt on people affiliated with Gülen, for some time.

Gülen denies any role in the bloody putsch attempt.

In addition to 510,000 suspected followers of the movement, Gulen’s own relatives have ended up in jail as well.
