Selahattin Gülen, the nephew of Turkish cleric Fethullah Gülen, has been put in pre-trial detention by a Turkish court on terror accusations, the man’s family members confirmed.

Selahattin Gülen was detained and forcibly brought back to Turkey by Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) on May 31. He is accused by the Turkish government of “managing an armed terrorist organization.”

Selahattin brother Kemal Gülen, a journalist and TV host who lives in Canada, confirmed in a tweet that his brother was forcibly returned to Turkey and was sent to prison late on Friday despite the fact that a Kenyan court had ruled against his extradition.

The Gülen group is accused by the Turkish government of masterminding a coup attempt in July 15, 2016. The group denies any involvement.
