İzmir police have detained at least 21 people for “giving financial support” to the purge-victims who were either jailed or fired from their jobs over Gülen links.

According to the Bold news portal, eight of the detainees were sent to prison over alleged membership in the Gülen group, which the government accuses of masterminding a coup attempt in 2016.

The group denies any involvement.

The remaining detainees were reportedly released on pending trial.
