At least 30 people were detained by anti-terrorism police in Istanbul early Wednesday.

The detainees include Veli Büyükşahin, columnist for the Artigercek online news portal and the former chairman of the now-defunct TV10 television channel, as well as the writer Güneş Daşlı.

TV10 is one of at least 180 media outlets the government shut down in the aftermath of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt.

Among the other people detained in Wednesday operation are members and some local executives of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP).

Artigercek, recently-established by the journalists in exile, said Wednesday that two of its columnists were remanded this week alone.
