Ayşe Çelik, a 41year-old Turkish woman, has been held in a Konya prison for almost twenty months over Gulen links despite suffering from type 2 diabetes and kidney stones, Tutsak Bebekler Twitter account reported.

According to the tweet, Çelik is charged with having membership in the Gulen group, which the Turkish government accuses of masterminding a coup attempt in 2016. The group denies any involvement.

Çelik’s husband, İrfan Çelik, has also been in prison for five years over similar charges.

The couple’s three children aged Furkan(10),İhsan(14),Arife(18), reportedly receive psychological support due to their traumatic experiences.

People with type 2 diabetes don’t respond to insulin as well as they should and later in the disease often don’t make enough insulin. This can lead to chronically high blood sugar levels, which increases the risk of diabetes complications.
