Ümit Emrah Köse, a leftist activist and a member of the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party in Turkey, has been sent to a prison in Mersin province on terror-related charges.

According to the pro-government A-Haber news portal, Köse was being sought on “blue notice,” which is issued to collect additional information about a person’s identity, location or activities in relation to a crime.

Köse was sent to Mersin E Type prison on Wednesday over “having membership in a terrorist organization.”

The Marxist-Leninist Communist Party is currently listed among the 12 active terrorist organisation in Turkey according to Counter-Terrorism and Operations Department of General Directorate of Security.
