A total of 511,000 people were detained over their suspected ties to the Gulen movement since the July 15, 2016 failed coup, according to Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu.

Speaking to a group of journalists on Monday, Soylu said the total number of those detained in FETO operations stands at 511,000. Soylu also said 30,821 people under pre-trial arrest in such cases across Turkey now.

Supporters of the movement are accused of coup participation since the Turkish government holds the movement responsible for a failed coup in July 2016 and considers it a terrorist organization.
