The 64-year-old mother-in-law of one of the prime suspects wanted for his alleged role in a coup attempt on July 15 was arrested on Sept. 2 in Sakarya province.

Hatice Yıldırım, who is confined to a wheelchair, was initially detained in early August and later released as part of an investigation into the Gülen movement. However, in another probe launched by the Sakarya Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Yıldırım was detained once again and arrested on Sept. 2.

Yıldırım is the mother-in-law of Adil Öksüz, whom the Turkish government declared the “imam of the Air Force” and a leader of the coup attempt in Turkey.
