Şentürk Çoban, the security manager of the Highway Shopping Mall in Turkey’s Bolu province has died following a heart attack during a court appearance.
Çoban who spent some 6 months before being released pending trial on accusations of membership to the Gulen movement, suffered a heart attack during a court hearing in Bolu, local media reported on Dec 15.
Taken into intensive care, Çoban passed away some four days later.
Some social media accounts said Çoban died due to stress and was not taken to the hospital immediately after the attack and that he was kept waiting outside the courtroom for 45-50 minutes.
Turkey survived coup attempt on July 15, 2016 that killed 249 people. The government along with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan blames the Gülen movement for it while the latter denies involvement. More than 140,000 people have passed through custody, of whom 60,000 were remanded in prison.
