The Twitter account of the German magazine Der Spiegel’s editor-in-chief was hacked by pro-Erdogan hacker team, Ayyildiz.

“We would like to apologize for the bad news that we have reported and published up till now about Turkey and [President] Recep Tayyip Erdogan,” the chief editor Klaus Brinkbäumer’s Twitter account tweeted late Saturday.

The tweet by the hacker group was accompanied by a Turkish flag and a picture of Erdogan while the Twitter handle for the editor’s account was changed from @Brinkbaeumer to @BrinkbaeumerTR.

Der Spiegel later said that Brinkbäumer’s account was restored.
