Turkey’s post-coup crackdown
The Turkish government has issued a total of 31 decress since a coup attempt on July 15, 2016. These decrees dismissed a total of 150,348 public servants from their jobs. Additionally, at least 21,000 teachers working at private schools across Turkey had their licenses revoked by Turkey’s Education Ministry on July 19, 2016. The Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors fired a total of 4,424 prosecutors, judges from their jobs.
