A Turkish businessman who has been held in a prison for over four years over Gulen links, was stabbed on Wednesday by an inmate seven times, Turkish media reported.
According to the Gulen-friendly TR724 news portal, the victim, Hazım Sesli, was stabbed by an inmate named Fatih Oktay while on the phone with his family members at around 16:20 (GMT+3).
Sesli, who has been held in the Menemen prison since October 2015, was sentenced to 15 years in prison over his links to Turkey’s Gülen group, accused by the Turkish government of masterminding a coup attempt in 2016.
The group denies any involvement.
