An imprisoned Turkish man  with multiple sclerosis (MS) has repeatedly been denied release from prison on probation, despite health reports attesting to her poor health.

The purge-victim man, named Mustafa Özcan Çay, has reportedly been held in İstanbul’s notorious Silivri Prison for over five years over alleged links to the Gulen group, which the Turkish government accuses of masterminding a coup attempt in 2016. The group denies any involvement.

According to Turkish journalist Sevinç Özarslan, Mr. Çay is wheelchair-bound and thus unable to perform daily functions due to constant pain and discomfort.
