Memduh Boydak, a purge-victim Turkish businessman, has shared the first photo since the beginning of his prison sentence in late 2016.

Boydak is seen in the picture with his three son Berat, Burak and Can Furkan Boydak. He is currently in Ankara’s Sincan prison. He is accused of having links to the Gulen group, which the government accuses of masterminding a coup attempt in 2016. The group denies any involvement.

Shortly after the failed putsch, in August 2016, the government seized Boydak Holding, which is among Turkey’s largest industrial groups, for its ties to the Gulenists, and its owners including Memduk Boydak and Mustafa Boydak were jailed.

Mr. Boydak was sentenced to 18 years on charges of leading a terrorist organization in July 2018. His mother, Aliye Boydak, was also given 7.5 years in prison over similar charges.
