Yusuf Bilge Tunç, a Turkish man from Capital Ankara has been missing since August 2019, according to pro-Kurdish HDP deputy Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu.

Gergerlioğlu “In Turkey, 161 days passed since a person was kidnapped. There are allegations that Yusuf Bilge Tunç was kidnapped by state officials in Ankara.Yet he cannot be found after more than 5 months now. Previously, 6 others who were also kidnapped were suddenly appeared at the Police HQ!” Gergerlioğlu tweeted on Wednesday.

Tunç is believed to have been kidnapped by the Turkish intelligence over his alleged links to Turkey’s Gülen group, which the Turkish government accuses of masterminding a coup attempt on July 15, 2016. The group denies any involvement.

More than a dozen people reported abducted in Turkey since 2016 failed coup

Mysterious disappearances involving already-victimized opposition groups have become a common occurrence in Turkey in the aftermath of a July 15, 2016 coup attempt.

At least 20 people have been abducted so far. Those not seen for quite some time mostly have in common in their personal histories that they have lost their jobs amid a sweeping crackdown that the Turkish government has conducted against its critics, particularly members of the Gülen group.
