Haydar Ergul, an editor for the quarterly Demokratik Modernite magazine has been put in pretrial detention.

Detained at Diyarbakir airport on Jan 16, Ergul was asked about the articles published at Demokratik Modernite, pro-Kurdish ETHA news agency said Tuesday.

Ergul was jailed after he spent 5 days under police custody on charges of membership to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Meanwhile, police in eastern province of Hakkari detained Mizgin Fendik, an employee of the pro-Kurdish Ozgurlukcu Demokrasi newspaper, while she was delivering copies of the daily to its subscribers, media reported the same day.
