Dokuz Eylul University Rectorate has asked all contracted workers at the medical faculty hospital to attend President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s rally meeting in Izmir ahead of the presidential referendum.

Erdogan is scheduled to take floor along with Prime Minister Binali Yildirim at a referendum rally in Izmir’s Gundogdu square on Apr 9.

The rectorate issued an assignment letter for contracted workers at the university’s hospital, requesting them to crowd Erdogan’s rally. While an SMS sent to all workers underlined that attendance is mandatory, those attending would be granted a day off on Apr 10, according to the same SMS.

The referendum, scheduled to take place on April 16, is set to introduce a shift from parliamentary power to the executive presidency and to give more power to Erdoğan.
