Pop singer and columnist Atilla Tas has said the pro-government Kanal D trimmed particular scenes from the comedy movie, Karisik Kaset where he took part in.

In a video recording he filmed while visiting a police station as part of his probation, Tas said Kanal D, recently bought by the pro-government business group Demiroren Holding, completely removed a 15-minute part Tas acted in the movie.

“They grow hostility towards others. Your background and your work do not have a value in their eyes. ” Tas commented.

Taş spent more than a year in prison before being released on judicial probation last year. He was writing daily columns for the Meydan daily, an outlet affiliated with the Gülen group, which was accused of orchestrating a coup attempt in July 2016, although it denies any involvement.

As part of a post-coup crackdown targeting followers and supporters of the group, Taş was arrested in September 2016 on charges of “aiding a terrorist organization without membership in it.”
