A 25-year-old police officer who was earlier suspended from his job in Turkey’s post-coup crackdown has shot himself dead 2 months after he was reinstated to the office.
Erdem Gezer, a father of one from the eastern province of Bitlis, was temporarily removed from office over his alleged links to the Gulen movement.
Two months after he was reinstated to his job as a result of an administrative investigation, Erdem Gezer shot himself dead at his home on April 18.
Turkish government accuses Gulen movement of masterminding the July 15, 2016 failed coup while the latter denies involvement. More than 150,000 people have been detained and 80,000 arrested over Gulen links since the summer of 2016.
