An Izmir couple, both teachers, were put in pretrial detention over their links to the Gulen movement as grand family members are now parenting their newborn twins and 7-year-old daughter, according to media.

The physics teacher, identified as O.K. was detained along with his wife S.K., a primary school teacher, as part of an investigation into the movement on Feb 8.

Aktifhaber online news portal reported Monday that the couple was subsequently put in pretrial detention.

The couple’s children, 6-month-old twins and a 70-year-old girl, were left under to their elderly grandmother.

Turkish government accuses Gulenists of masterminding the July 15, 2016 failed coup while the latter denies involvement.
