Ayşe Çalışkan, a Sakarya teacher who was dismissed from her job in September 2016, died of stomach cancer on March 30.
The mother of two was diagnosed with cancer nearly a month after she was purged as part of the government’s post-coup crackdown.
She had a surgery in Istanbul in June 2017, and since then her medical condition had only worsened .
Çalışkan passed away on Friday and her body was taken to her hometown, Adiyaman, where she will be buried.
More than 150,000 people have lost their jobs while more than 60,000 have been put in pre-trial detention as part of the government witch hunt since the summer of 2016 in Turkey.
