Turkish police have detained at least twenty-three soldiers including 21 active-duty members of the military over suspected links to Turkey’s Gülen group, accused by the Turkish government of orchestrating a failed coup attempt last July, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported on Thursday.
According to the report, detention warrants were issued for 34 military personnel including 31 on active duty as part of a Kocaeli-based investigation that encompasses 13 provinces.
Police are continuing their operations to detain 11 military members who are still at large.
Thousands of military members have been purged and detained as part of an investigation targeting the Gülen group since the coup attempt.
The group denies any involvement.
