A total of 10 faculty members from Sakarya University were arrested over coup charges, bringing up the already high-number of arrested faculty members jailed over their alleged ties to the July 15 failed coup bid.

Police earlier detained 11 Sakarya University academics over their ties to the Gulen Movement which the government accuses of masterminding the coup. While 1 of them was released, the remaining 10 were put behind bars, on Monday.

Nearly 23,000 people from all walks of life have been under arrest since the failed coup attempt.
