Nine teachers were arrested over their alleged use of ByLock, a controversial mobile application that Turkish authorities claim to be the top communication tool among the followers of the Gulen movement, on Tuesday.

The government accuses the movement of masterminding the July 15, 2016 coup attempt while the latter denies any involvement.

Nine teachers have joined the ranks of thousands of teachers and academics jailed in the aftermath of the coup attempt last summer.
