Ozan Kaplanoğlu, editor of the bursamuhalif.com online news portal and a board member of the Contemporary Journalists Association’s (ÇGD) Bursa branch, was arrested over terror charges, on Friday.

Kaplanoğlu is accused of making propaganda on his social media accounts on behalf of a terrorist organization.

The leading jailer of the journalists in the world, Turkey has been ranked at 163rd place out of 199 countries, down 8 spots from its place in 2016, according to the US-based watchdog Freedom House.

Turkey has jailed more than 230 journalists in the aftermath of the July 15 coup attempt, of whom over 150 are still under arrest.
